1. How often should I have my hood professionally cleaned?

The answer is determined by the code or laws adopted by state (municipality), city or county.

11.3 Inspection of exhaust systems

The entire exhaust shall be inspected by a properly trained, qualified, andcertified company or person (s) acceptable to the authority having jurisdiction in accordance with Table 11.3

2. Why am I required to clean my hood?

Regular hood cleanings are required by your local Fire Marshal and Board of Health as well as your insurance company. Scheduling regular hood, vent and exhaust cleanings, these systems will function more effeciently and produce a cleaner, cooler kitchen for your staff as well as your customers.
